Yo! Wolves school holiday programme all set for May half-term

Wolverhampton’s Yo! May half-term programme has been launched this week, offering hundreds of activities and events for the city’s children and young people and their families during the upcoming school holiday.

Running throughout half-term, from Monday 27 May to Friday 31 May, all activities will be funded by the City of Wolverhampton Council and will include a meal.

The holiday activities are free for all children and young people of school age living in Wolverhampton and consist of arts, crafts, fun days out, dance and drama workshops, photography and much more. For full details and to book, please visit www.yowolves.co.uk.

The Yo! Wolves programme goes from strength to strength with the recent Easter activities #HAF2024 organised by the council and funded by the Department for Education (DfE) an even greater success than last year.

There were over 11,500 places available during Easter, delivered by 27 providers at 49 locations across the city. A new, state-of-the-art, booking system meant that it was easier than ever for families to book online.

And Easter saw an increase in participation among young people in secondary education and in particular more secondary pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), who enjoyed a variety of events organised by specialist providers. In total, over 700 children and young people, including 338 secondary and 378 primary, with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) enjoyed a variety of events over the two-week break.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “These participation figures for Easter are very pleasing and show that our Yo! Wolves school holiday programme continues to grow.

“May’s programme begins shortly with places available to book now, and planning for the summer holidays is well underway to ensure we continue to provide activities and opportunities for a wide range of young people across the city.”
