Get ready for Yo! Easter holiday fun

Wolverhampton’s Yo! Easter programme is set to offer a host of fun and exciting events for children, young people and their families throughout the coming school holidays.

The Easter offer gets into full swing from Saturday (9 April) and continues for two weeks with a range of activities, many of them free, that the whole family can enjoy.

Children will have the chance to learn new skills and build confidence with one of the many sports activities taking place across the city delivered by a range of providers including Kixx Football, Motive 8 Youth CICC, Gazebo Theatre, Fit for Sport and Revolution Dance.

There’s the chance for children to make and create at one of the many Easter-themed craft sessions. In addition, children can join in drama activities with Gazebo Theatre or even make their own music with Beats a Bar.

The City of Wolverhampton Council has teamed up with Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID) to bring a Giant Easter Egg Trail to the city centre. Families will be tasked with following the trail to find the 10 giant eggs, each providing one of 10 letters needed to complete the trail.

Cherry Shine, BID Director, said: “We are so pleased to be able to work in conjunction with the council to bring this fantastic and fun activity to our city. It will be a really lovely activity for families and children to get involved with during the school holidays.” The Giant Easter Egg Trail runs from Saturday (9 April) to Sunday 24 April. In addition, there will also be a host of Easter activities organised by Discover Bilston as part of the Bilston Business Improvement District scheme. Simon Archer from Bilston BID said: “We are excited to be working alongside the City of Wolverhampton Council to deliver some cracking activities for the residents of Bilston during the school holidays.

“Our Easter Egg hunt this year is going to be great fun and we encourage families to come and join us from 14-16 April. Full details can be found at www.discoverbilston.co.uk/events.”

Emma Bennett, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Executive Director of Families, said: “Our aim is to give children and young people the best start in life, and part of this is to offer accessible and fun things to do during the school holidays.

“We are delighted with our Yo! Easter holiday programme which will deliver a range of exciting activities across multiple locations, ensuring there’s something for everyone to do over the next fortnight.

“Once again, we would like to give our thanks to all of the local providers, volunteers and organisations that have worked with us to build this huge range of opportunities for our city’s children and young people. “I would encourage everyone to have a look at www.yowolves.co.uk, book your places and, most importantly, have some fun!”.

The website also offers children, young people and their families support, advice and information on everything from mental health and wellbeing to education and careers.
