Show your support on National Thank a Teacher Day

The City of Wolverhampton Council is encouraging families to join in and celebrate National Thank a Teacher Day tomorrow (Wednesday 20 May, 2020). The annual event allows parents and pupils to say a big thank you to their school and its staff. And the council is extending its thanks to nurseries and other childcare settings so more families can get involved. Families with children in Wolverhampton can say thank you by creating picture and video messages from their children for their teachers. Children can don their school or nursery uniform for the thank you picture or video message which can be sent to the Wolverhampton Today Facebook page, www.facebook.com/wolverhamptontoday or directly to their school or childcare provider.

Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “We should all take this opportunity to heap praise on our city's wonderful teachers, and also those working in early years settings, our college and university lecturers and our childminders, all of whom are making a material difference to the lives of thousands of children and young people in Wolverhampton.” Director of Children’s Services, Emma Bennett, added: “This is a brilliant opportunity for us all to recognise the fantastic work our teams in early years settings, schools, colleges and universities do to support children and young people in Wolverhampton. “They’re hard-working, committed and passionate, and the progress we have made over the last few years in our educational settings has proven that. “Never have our ‘thanks’ to these brilliant professionals been more needed.”
