Help shape educational provision for young people with SEND

Parents, carers and other stakeholders are being encouraged to have their say and help shape educational provision for children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).

They are invited to take part in a consultation into a draft High Needs Provision Framework which will guide the City of Wolverhampton Council and its partners in the long-term development of education provision for children and young people with SEND.

The consultation began yesterday (Monday 2 March) and continues until Monday 13 April 2020.

People can see the draft policy framework and have their say the on-line survey at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/consultations.

Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “Levels of demand for educational provision in Wolverhampton have increased significantly in recent years – and are forecast to increase further in the years ahead.

“We need to ensure that we are able to continue to meet the needs of our children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and this policy framework will guide the development of education provision in the future.

“I would encourage parents and carers of children and young people with SEND to have their say by taking part in this consultation.

“We want them to tell us what they think works well, and what could be done differently, so that we can ensure we continue to offer sufficient high quality provision for all children in the city, irrespective of their education needs.”
