Parents and carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities are being invited to find out more about the new smart Education, Health and Care Hub.
The Hub supports two core processes around a child or young person's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It will provide a secure shared touch point for everyone involved in the assessment and planning process and the annual review process, enabling them to make their views known and see the contributions of others as they work towards positive outcomes.
It puts the child or young person at the heart of the process, allowing families to take more ownership of their plans by developing confidential personalised profiles of their child and sharing their views and aspirations. It also provides secure online access to key documents and reports.
Practitioners will be able to submit information and advice online, avoiding any unnecessary delays with the delivery of paper-based reports, while families will be able to see this at the same time that the council receives it.
In addition, the hub will contain information about EHCP meetings, including details of who will be attending, and enable families to provide their views online.
Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “Having a good, high quality Education, Health and Care Plan is crucial in ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
“We have taken our data protection responsibilities really seriously in developing this new secure online hub which will put families at the heart of the EHC planning and review process – enabling collaboration and transparency with all professionals involved.”
A free workshop to introduce families to the EHC Hub is taking place at the Civic Centre on Tuesday 24 September from 10am-11.30am. To book a space, please call Wolverhampton Information, Advice and Support Service on 01902 556945 or email email@example.com.
