Date: Wednesday, 4 July, 2018 12pm - 4:30pm
Location: Lawnswood Partnership Centre of Excellence Conference Facilities, Lawnswood Campus, Lawnswood Avenue, Parkfields, Wolverhampton, WV4 6SR
This is training for Designated Teachers for Looked after Children (LAC), and/or other key school staff with a responsibility for LAC / vulnerable pupils, in attachment, trauma and promoting resilience in school.
The session covers:
An introduction to attachment theory and the effects of early trauma and neglect, particularly on young people’s readiness to learn and ability to thrive in school
A range of appropriate strategies to support pupils with these difficulties within the school setting
The session will be interactive so delegates are encouraged to come with examples, issues or questions in mind that they would like to discuss. The facilitators will make every effort to include these as part of the session if appropriate.
This session focuses specifically on working with teenagers who have attachment-related difficulties. This session would therefore be of interest to secondary schools in particular.
The sessions are open to mainstream and special schools, as well as PRUs and alternative education providers.
