Parents and guardians of children due to start school in the City of Wolverhampton for the first time next autumn are being urged to apply for their places during the festive period.
The window is currently open for applications for reception places at infant and primary schools for September 2018. The online application process is quick and easy but families only have until 15 January, 2018, to register their preferences.
Around two thirds of families have already completed their applications, and the call has gone out to those that haven’t yet done so – or who are among the 250 or so who have started but not yet finished their applications – to get their skates on.
Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Parents or guardians of children who are due to start school for the first time in September 2018 need to apply for their places now.
“The application process is quick and easy, so please set aside some time over the next few weeks and make sure you have completed your application before the deadline of 15 January.
“It’s important that you get your application in on time, as applying late could have a detrimental effect on your chances of securing a place at one of your preferred schools.
“Latest figures show that 89% of schools in Wolverhampton are rated as "Good" or "Outstanding" by Ofsted, the highest ever, so there has never been a better time to go to school in our City.”
For more information and to apply online, please visit www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/admissions.
Applications are made through a secure website and can be viewed and edited online up until the closing date. People who apply online will be able to access their child's school place allocation on 16 April 2018, rather than having to wait for notification in the post.
