A Wolverhampton nursery school continues to be Good say inspectors, who praised a "strong collaborative culture" which leads to "high-quality learning".
Bushbury Nursery School on Bushbury Lane was inspected last month, and Ofsted found it was continuing to "provide a good quality of education for all groups of children” and that “staff work well with parents and carers to ensure that they are true partners in learning".
Headteacher Heidi Bullock and her team have created a "learning community" within the school, offering a range of opportunities for children to develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.
Inspector Bogusia Matusiak-Varley said that much care and attention goes into ensuring that children's interests are built into meaningful activities, and that learning through play is purposeful. This contributes to "outstanding behaviour and personal development".
Teaching is "vibrant and exciting", and learning activities are supported by the use of good quality resources. Children are "happy and engaged in their learning because of the excellent relationships they have with their staff". They leave Bushbury Nursery School reaching expectations for their age – while several exceeded expectations in maths, speaking and listening, early writing and reading.
Parents were "highly complementary of all the help they receive and all that is done for them" and "value the wide range of training they receive to help them become better parents and teachers". Ofsted said the many ‘thank-you’ cards the nursery receives is testament to the appreciation felt by parents.
Headteacher Heidi Bullock said: “The Governors and I are delighted with the outcome; I am so proud to be part of such a wonderful school.
“Credit must be given to the parents, children and the dedicated staff of Bushbury Nursery School, without which this would not have been possible. In all aspects of nursery life the children are at the heart of all we do, we firmly believe ‘the child is the first resource for the future’.”
Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "It is great to hear that the children at Bushbury Nursery are getting such a good start in life, and that they clearly enjoy their time at the school.
“I would like to congratulate Heidi Bullock and her team on this excellent inspection, and also thank council officers who have given valuable support to the school over the last 12 months.
"More schools in Wolverhampton are now rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted than ever before, meaning there has never been a better time to go to school in our City."
