Global Ransomware Attack

June 28, 2017

Reports are spreading around the world of a new Ransomware attack. Stories have come in from Russia, Mainland Europe and the UK. The Ransomware uses the same exploit as the WannaCry attack which brought chaos to the NHS in May of this year.

To protect yourself and your organisation follow these simple paths.

  1. If anything about an email makes you suspicious report it to your IT Technician.

  2. Do not click on links in an email.

  3. Only open an email attachment if you are sure it is genuine. If you are unsure contact the sender or speak to your IT technician.

Twitter Account Hacker Fantastic have also tweeted an image of the encryption process. Please familiarise yourself with this image. If you see it on your computer switch off immediately by holding down the power button and inform your IT Technician.
