Ofsted praise for two more City nurseries

March 17, 2017

Two more nursery schools in Wolverhampton have been praised following recent Ofsted inspection, with one rated Outstanding and another Good.

The Early Explorers nursery for two-year-olds based at Trinity CE Primary School was found to be Outstanding in the four key inspection areas – effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children. Nishkam Nursery was judged to be Good across all the four key inspection areas.

In her report, Inspector Pam Sansoyer found the quality of teaching at Early Explorers to be "excellent", with staff providing children with "the best possible activities and experiences to help them make significant gains in their learning", meaning they are "exceptionally well prepared to move to the on-site nursery at Trinity Primary”, based on Longford Road.

The children themselves "show high levels of involvement during activities and show a real fondness for stories, books and singing. They are highly inquisitive and keen to explore the creative and physical world around them."

Rebecca Orszulan, Director of Early Years at the school, said: “I am truly delighted with our Ofsted outcome. We opened our two-year-old provision three years ago, working hard to turn our vision into reality by providing our youngest children in the community with the best possible start in their early education.

“It is an absolute privilege and honour to work with such supportive parents and dedicated staff across the Early Years team, who are always striving to ensure that each child flourishes in their self-esteem, self-confidence and independence.

“We are continually striving for excellence and building upon parental engagement, since our inspection we have set up our library and weekly Forest School sessions with full parental support.”

Meanwhile inspectors at Nishkam noted a number of improvements which had been made at the Graiseley-based nursery since it opened in 2015.

Ofsted found that staff “use what they know about children to challenge them effectively in their learning and development” and that planning for future learning is based on a good knowledge of each child. It found the children themselves to be emotionally secure, and that they “confidently explore and investigate different media and materials and find things out for themselves.”

Niskham Nursery director Parvinder Singh said: “We’re absolutely thrilled because Ofsted have recognised that our hard work is boosting our children’s self-esteem and enabling them to develop good skills in readiness to move on to school, all within a safe and secure environment. We have a detailed action plan to secure even further improvement.”

Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Some 85% of our schools and nurseries are now rated Good or Outstanding, more than ever before, with all of Wolverhampton’s nurseries now holding one of the top two ratings.

“This is great news for pupils and their parents, and I'm really pleased to hear that providers such as Early Explorers and Nishkam are offering superb quality education to our very youngest learners.”
