Families the WINner as website expands to offer children’s services

February 18, 2016

A website giving people help and support at their fingertips has been extended to provide more information than ever before.

WIN, the Wolverhampton Information Network, is available at http://win.wolverhampton.gov.uk and provides details of social care and support services in Wolverhampton, along with organisations which can offer help and guidance on a wide range of issues.

Initially unveiled last year to primarily focus on services for adults and older people, it has been relaunched to include information about children’s services in the city as well as the SEND offer for children and young people with special educational needs.

Accessible via computers and mobile devices, WIN also highlights social and leisure activities in Wolverhampton and offers advice and guidance on finding employment and voluntary work, keeping healthy and safe, claiming benefits, paying for care and getting out and about, including the Motability and the Ring and Ride services.

WIN has been developed by the City of Wolverhampton Council with the help of service users, their families and carers.

Councillor Val Gibson, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "Wolverhampton Information Network brings together a wealth of information about the various services that are available across in the city, and I'm delighted that it now includes details of the support on offer for children and families.

“The aim of WIN is to put knowledge in the hands of the people that need it, so they can see for themselves what sort of help and support is available to them and how they can go about accessing it.

"I'd urge people to visit the Wolverhampton Information Network today to find out more."

Providers of care and support services around Wolverhampton are being encouraged to log on to http://win.wolverhampton.gov.uk and include details of services they provide.

The new Wolverhampton Information Network is one of three new websites being launched this month. The others include About Youth - www.aboutyouth.org.uk - showcasing events and activities for children and young people in Wolverhampton, and a new combined website for Wolverhampton's Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children’s Boards.
